Even though The Meetinghouse is relatively new to Salem, its ecclesiology (church government) and church affiliation is rooted in historic Congregationalism. MHC is affiliated with the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference (CCCC) which has its roots in historic New England Congregationalism.
The CCCC holds strongly to the basic doctrines of the Christian faith but allows for diversity on issues where Christians have disagreed. The conference recognizes the strength of holding to central theological convictions while allowing for diversity on secondary issues. In the balance of this freedom and unity, local churches can preserve their autonomy to implement their vision and mission while remaining faithful to essential theological convictions that the CCCC maintains. For much more information on the CCCC go to www.ccccusa.com. If you'd like to read more about how the CCCC began go here.
